Commencing in 2008, the JDCA
held its Annual Display Day and Concours as a part of the
Association of British Car Clubs Display Day. This Display Day
is held at The
Kings School, and the grounds there are an ideal location for such events, with
extensive open space and facilities.
Photos from the 2009 event can be accessed from the link below and
feature mainly XJ Coupes (surprise!) with some other Jaguars and
Daimlers as well. The JDCA had in the vicinity of 200 cars on
display as well as those entered in the Concours. The JDCA XJC
Register had eight coupes in its general display
with a V12 coupe in the Concours d'Elegance. The Daimler and
Lanchester Club had two coupes on display, one Double Six and a
Daimler Sovereign. The Thoroughbred Sports Car Club had one
coupe on display - a 4.2C.
The V12 coupe mentioned above is a spectacular car and won a
Gold Award in the Concours and was also the outright winner on
the day. This car was a previous state and national Concours
winner, and had made a reappearance in Concours with a new owner
after an absence of several years.
I've included a couple of photos of an XJ Series 2 Saloon -
remarkable for the work that has been done to it - not a car for
the Jaguar purist as it has a V8 motor, Nitrous Oxide induction
and hydraulic suspension, but well engineered all the same.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
